In a significant move towards sustainability, Vodafone UK revealed that they will have all their company vehicles converted to zero-emission electric vehicles (EVs) by 2026. This initiative is part of the company’s broader goal to achieve Net Zero emissions across all operations by 2030.
Since 2019, Vodafone UK has been gradually replacing its fleet with battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), with the process gaining momentum over the years. By 2020, only 16% of their fleet comprised BEVs, and 29% were plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). The transition gained further speed as petrol and diesel cars were eliminated from the fleet choices by 2021, with PHEVs following suit by 2023.
To date, Vodafone UK has deployed around 300 EVs, and the rate of transition has now accelerated to complete a full fleet conversion by 2026, compared to the original target of 2027. The company’s collaboration with vehicle leasing firm Arval UK has been instrumental in this ongoing process, aiming to significantly reduce their carbon footprint and support environmental sustainability efforts.
