Leading Full Fibre Providers Dominating New Build Homes in the UK, 2025

A recent report by ISPreview highlights the key players in the UK's full fibre broadband market for new build homes in 2025.

As of July 3rd, 2025, ISPreview published a comprehensive ranking of the top ten full fibre broadband operators that are leading the deployment in newly constructed homes across the UK. The data underscores the dominance of Openreach (BT), which holds the largest market share, followed by Hyperoptic. This focus on new developments reflects the UK’s ongoing commitment to gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure.

Currently, approximately 99% of new build homes in the UK are being constructed with Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) infrastructure, a figure that has been steadily rising from about 60% in 2017. This growth is part of a broader national initiative mandating gigabit broadband to nearly all new constructions. In comparison, about 78% of all UK properties—both new and existing—now have access to fibre connectivity, with nearly 88% capable of gigabit-speed broadband.

The list of providers is based solely on full fibre coverage in new build homes and excludes other technologies such as FTTC or ADSL. Despite some challenges, the deployment momentum is strong due to regulatory mandates across England, Scotland, and Wales to facilitate gigabit infrastructure.

Openreach leads the market by a significant margin, while Hyperoptic remains a key contender. Other notable players, including Virgin Media, have seen a decrease in influence within this sector, reflecting changing dynamics in fibre deployment. Additionally, OFNL’s recent acquisition of FibreNest suggests a future potential boost in their market penetration.

The data, derived from Thinkbroadband’s extensive coverage database, does have limitations, such as potential lag in recent deployments and the exclusion of very small projects. Nevertheless, it provides valuable insights into industry trends and deployment strategies, marking ongoing progress in UK’s digital infrastructure.
