In a bold move to enhance connectivity, Astound revealed a significant $81 million investment plan targeting Pennsylvania’s fiber network. The project, slated for completion in 2026, aims to improve internet services for over 315,000 households and approximately 25,000 businesses, strengthening the region’s digital infrastructure.
In particular, the Lehigh Valley region will see an allocation of $39 million dedicated to upgrading 4,200 miles of fiber optic cables. This expansion is expected to serve 262,000 homes and 23,000 commercial entities, boosting high-speed internet access.
Already, work has begun on over 4,800 miles of infrastructure, extending the network deeper into the Lehigh Valley and northeast Pennsylvania areas. Sanford Ames, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Pennsylvania at Astound, emphasized the company’s commitment towards future-ready networks, capable of supporting modern demands ranging from remote work and 4K streaming to online gaming and smart home technologies.
“We are building a network that isn’t just for today, but for tomorrow’s needs,” Ames stated, highlighting the company’s focus on delivering seamless, reliable, and scalable internet solutions.
Beyond Pennsylvania, Astound’s market reach includes Chicago, Massachusetts, New York City, Maryland, D.C., Texas, and parts of California, Oregon, and Washington, further demonstrating its broad industry footprint.
